Another Late Night with Your Sleepless Seer Child

Our seer child is 10 (although our 2 year old is displaying similar tendencies), and while the seeing gift faded there for a couple of years, it’s started to come back with a vengeance, as we thought it might…, as some seers warned us it would.

And so I’m typing this out late at night, on a work-night when I have to get up early in the morning and a school night when she has to get up early. I’m sitting in a chair in my daughter’s room, listening to her not-so even breathing as she tries to settle her fearful mind down and fall asleep.

Recently, for the first time in a while, she has seen a couple of spirit entities that have unnerved her. They were vivid.

And this unsettling fear has descended on her. We’ve read scriptures; we’ve prayed; we’ve commanded the dark entities away. She’s unsettled, so strongly, she thought she might vomit. And so, I finally shut off the football game, and came to sit in her room at the head of her bed.

Sometimes, it takes the patient presence of a parent to sooth the seer child’s fears.

I’m writing this for other parents, who sometimes are at their wits ends with how to help their fearful spiritually-sensitive children, and especially parents of a seer child. I know this, because I receive many emails from parents asking for help or thanking me for this site.

Have patience. Don’t despair. Continue to go to the Father, and help set your child’s mind on things above, not things here or below. It’s a process. Don’t get frustrated. Don’t freak out.

Examine your life to see what may have triggered a shift in the spirit realm to attract attention. For us, I can think of a couple of things which may have attracted the ire of enemy spirits (e.g., I’m preparing to podcast again, my youth group is starting up, and we’re starting a small group on spiritual gifts. In addition, we’re pushing for a spiritual breakthrough at church).

Similarly, consider physical conditions. For her, she may be approaching puberty, which will flood her brain with all sorts of hormones, triggering the parts that are spiritually-sensitive (i.e., the pineal gland).  Or perhaps it was a recent change in our diet and an effort to detoxify our bodies.  Perhaps that made her brain spiritually sensitive.  Or maybe it’s a combination of everything or something else. Who knows?

The important thing is to be loving, fearless and solid, and read Psalm 142:

With my voice I cry out to the LORD;
with my voice I plead for mercy to the LORD.
I pour out my complaint before him;
I tell my trouble before him.
When my spirit faints within me,
you know my way!
In the path where I walk
they have hidden a trap for me.
Look to the right and see:
there is none who takes notice of me;
no refuge remains to me;
no one cares for my soul.
I cry to you, O LORD;
I say, “You are my refuge,
my portion in the land of the living.”
Attend to my cry,
for I am brought very low!
Deliver me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me!
Bring me out of prison,
that I may give thanks to your name!
The righteous will surround me,
for you will deal bountifully with me.

Father: I ask that you release an angel to guard my daughter tonight from all forces of darkness. I ask that this angel stand guard in her room, and will fill her sleep with peaceful and restful dreams, and nothing dark will disturb her. And I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Ahh… Her breathing is deep and she’s snoring softly. Sleep well, my dear one. The Lord is with you.
